183. Do you like to dance? Yes, but I have to feel very comfortable to dance in crowds/at parties.
189. A book you want to read/have recently read: I’m so keen to read The Fault in Our Stars by John Green, and I’m currently reading Preincarnate by Shaun Micallef. It is delightful, intelligent nonsense.

74. What are your favourite books? This could go on for pages, so I’ll just list a few that come to mind immediately:
The Billabong Books by Mary Grant Bruce (childhood FAVOURITES)
Little Women by Louisa May Alcott (ditto)
anything by Rosemary Sutcliff (but especially The Eagle of the Ninth)
The Hunger Games by Suzanne Collins
Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
The Bronze Bow by...

46. Do you replay things that have happened in your head? Yes! Mostly dumb stuff I wish I’d never said. And awkward social interactions. Which are sometimes one and the same.
63. A quote you try to live by: “Wherever you are, be all there”. I can so often be living in the past or the future, but it’s really the now that makes the difference.
65. Weird things you do when...

I don’t know if you know this, but I actually have a second tumblr which is less for reblogs and more for actual thoughts. It’s my little attempt to be more of a creator and less of a consumer when it comes to social media.

agreyeyedgirl replied to your post: Do you celebrate New Year’s Eve? How?
I do! I like to stay at home, make something tasty, and watch the Twilight Zone marathon. Often my friend Angela joins me—last year we made creme brulee. This year we wore party dresses and made pavlova!
This sounds well nigh fabulous.

So how was your old bud Ira?
Ah, Ira! He was SO GOOD. He was warm, charismatic, intelligent, humble, honest, and generous with his experience and talent. I expected him to be fun, but I didn’t expect him to also be so FUNNY.
He obviously put some serious planning into his show, mixing sound bites and music on his iPad as he went, pulling together what was essentially an amazing sermon on storytelling. I really felt...

Do you celebrate New Year's Eve? How?
I do! It varies from year to year. Sometimes there’s a party; sometimes it’s just me and my famiy. Sometimes everyone goes to bed except me. I’ve done the whole hang-out-in-the-city-amongst-the-millions-waiting-for-the-fireworks thing and often that feels more lonely, more lost, than just being with a few special people to ring in the new year. This year, it was me, my parents,...

Dear John Green,
You make being a “real author” look like the normal, unpretentious thing it ought to be. It is not a mystical world peopled by untouchables. It’s a real world with real people who can be dorky but write heartbreaking stuff, who talk about what really matters with as much ease as they talk about what doesn’t.
You write serious stuff but you don’t take yourself too...

okay this is lame, but i just found that the beautiful top my mother gave me for christmas has a hole in it on the shoulder — a mysterious hole — and i’m disproportionately sad about it.
